Supply Chain Specialist

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for providing excellent quality service to all Rapid Aid customers and internal departments by ensuring the efficient operation of the warehouse and logistics systems and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service and demonstrate a professional and positive attitude toward internal and external contacts at all times.
  • Recommend and implement a warehouse management and inventory control systems.
  • As a team player, provide assistance in the warehouse and plant as required.
  • Act as point of contact and interface with other departments.
  • Manage, coach and develop the shipping/receiving and warehouse team.
  • Provide assistance, training and coaching to the shipping/receiving and warehouse staff to ensure their success in achieving departmental objectives and the development of individual strengths.
  • Provide planning in material and product handling and storage at site.
  • Control non-conforming products storage status.
  • Provide recommendations for improving the level of service provided by the Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Department.
  • Proactively manage the day-to-day shipping and receiving operations.
  • Accurately calculate weights for bills of lading and customs documentation.
  • Prepare record and file bills of lading, customs documentation and courier paperwork.
  • Prepare labels for all outgoing shipments.
  • Pick and pack small orders and samples going to clients.
  • Enter and maintain shipping and receiving records and inventory control records using the Warehouse Management System.
  • Manage warehouse/ transportation documents and distribution records for traceability purposes.
  • Organize and oversee inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
  • Coordinate with production, plan and implement material purchasing before production starts manufacturing.
  • Keep management informed as to day-to-day operations issues and relevant information.
  • Manage the recruitment and staffing of the Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Department.
  • Manage the off-site inventory.
  • Manage and coordinate all domestic and international freight and logistics.
  • Create and maintain new shipping, receiving and inventory control procedures and ISO documentation.
  • Consistently demonstrate the importance of being proactive with information and effectively communicate that theme to others.
  • Attend and contribute to management meetings by providing updates and information on operational matters.
  • Evaluate qualified vendors as material suppliers.
  • Approve purchase of raw materials, office supplies, and assist the purchase of plate machinery.
  • Sign off on all applicable payables for payment.
  • Manage the daily activities of Buyer/Scheduler and Shipper Receiver.
  • Sign off all purchase orders before being forwarded for final approval.
  • Ensure all raw materials are ordered to meet with production schedule and customer requirements.
  • Work with Quality Control to ensure all raw materials which do not meet Rapid Aid standards are communicated to the vendor in the form of a non-conformance report.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years proven work experience in a busy warehouse environment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with warehouse and inventory control systems for manufacturers.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience an asset.
  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Time management skills to ensure work is completed correctly, thoroughly and within established timeframes.
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, Access, e-mail) to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Previous experience with inventory management and cycle counts.
  • Demonstrated organization and multitask skills to work in a fast paced environment and effectively accommodate changing customer requirements.
  • Good math skills to accurately calculate weights.
  • Strong teamwork approach and the ability to work and cooperate with others to accomplish department and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Initiative, desire to succeed and job ownership required.
